About ICE - SAR
We are proud to be a longstanding partner of ICE-SAR, the Icelandic Search and Rescue Organisation. During their missions, this courageous group of volunteers often has to fight for people's lives in difficult visibility and weather conditions. The time counts. The icy cold of Iceland means that even modern equipment often doesn't always work. The team needs a watch that is easy to read in all lighting conditions. Luminox watches are designed specifically for such extreme situations. The first collection to emerge from this partnership was the ICE-SAR Arctic 1000 Series, followed by the ICE-SAR Arctic 1200 Series, to which some tweaks were added.

HARD STORIES
The ICE-SAR logo, with its four circular elements, was the inspiration for the shape of the collection's bezels, and the hands are modeled after the carabiners rescuers use on each mission. The dial is reminiscent of the lava fields that cover 30% of Iceland, and on the blue and black and red models, the number 12 is replaced by 112, the emergency number in many countries in Europe and the US.
ICE-SAR Arctic 1200 Series
All the Arctic 1200 Series watches are powered by a Ronda quartz movement with a lithium battery and, due to the case’s screw down case back and crown, are all water resistant to 200 meters (20 ATM). The hands are inspired by the carabiners the teams use, while the red graphic around the date window is the ICE-SAR logo. The dial, on which is printed a map of the world, with the coordinates of the ICE-SAR headquarters in Reykjavik smack in the middle, is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and framed by a bi-directional turning bezel.
